Nail colors for summer

Amy B in Scottsdale, AZ asked “What are some good nail colors for summer? I want to shorten and paint them, but not sure what’s hot. “That ominous nail-color wall of your favorite salon can be overwhelming. So let’s make this fun and simple.

First, peruse  the latest Vogue, Elle or W magazine noticing the colors of the suggested looks for this season.

Then look through your closet. This is important, you don’t want to wear a polish that clashes with your existing  summer wardrobe, no matter how “in style” that polish color may be.

I see delicious opaque sherbets like apricot, orange, peach and green tea.  Ocean colors are also a notable trend in the clothing looks, it makes sense that these colors would translate into polish.  Look for tints of deep-dive purple, barrier reef blue, anemone yellow and island green.

Now select your personal shade intensity, from pastel to neon. OPI.com has a super tool that allows you to virtually “try-it-on.” You can even adjust your skin tone and nail length. The most important thing to remember is to have fun, let that whimsical side out to play… it is officially summer.
