For Fresh Start Women’s Foundation

Six Items or LessStarting August 2nd, 2010, I am doing the Six Items or Less 30 Day Challenge. I was inspired by the article I read in the New York Times online. I am a Wardrobe Stylist, Fashion Blogger and Personal Stylist, I guide people daily on what to wear or buy. I personally also have had that desperate feeling of “I have nothing to wear,” as I go from closet to closet desperately looking for something to wear. I would not tell my clients they are being ridiculous, I would tell myself that for sure. I am extremely blessed to have what I have and the resources to indulge, hopefully more responsibly than not. But I know for a fact there are good people out there that are not so lucky.

This brings me to the reason why I am doing the Six Items or Less challenge. Fresh Start Women’s Foundation in Phoenix is an incredible nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women help themselves. Through the work of the Jewell McFarland Lewis-Fresh Start Women’s Resource Center, the first comprehensive Center offering quality services to women seeking self-improvement. Whether they are adjusting to a career change, concerned about financial security, coping with difficult family relationships, or seeking opportunities for personal growth and self-sufficiency, Fresh Start is here to support these women on their journey.

One way is Fresh Start’s Self-Esteem Services. It is dedicated to helping them create a positive self-image through a combination of workshops and services in the areas of personal appearance, self-care, and well-being. This program includes daytime educational services in professional wardrobing, hair-styling, make-up, manicures, and skin care, and evening seminars focused on cultivating self-worth and enhancing inner strengths.

The reason I do what I do, is to cultivate that hidden confidence by creating persona’s through style. So I want to commit to the 30 day challenge, by bringing awareness to the Fresh Start Women’s Foundation by blogging about my daily appreciation and experience with only six items, which in many cases is more than these women have when they walk away from there old lives to start their new ones.

Follow my journey from the 2nd through the 31st of August 2010 as I photo blog & share my thoughts (the photo’s keep me accountable!)

You can also make a one time (or as many times as you like) donation by just clicking the DONATE BUTTON. I appreciate your support deeply.
