Eco fashion, a growing philosophy and trend of sustainability. The goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of environmentalism. Social  responsibility is not only defined by “low emissions” or reducing our “carbon footprint,” but by reaching out to our communities in need.

Another brand joining this new growing coalition is Civic Duty Shoes. Civic Duty is more than just a brand, it is a movement that aims to inspire others. In 2009, Steven Weinreb, lost his job due to the massive economic downturn. Like many Americans, he was concerned about prospects for a new job when so many were unemployed. As our Government bailed out big corporations, everyday people were left to fend for themselves. Out of Weinreb’s frustration came his motivation to start a company that cares. He determined to prove that we can be successful and still be socially, environmentally and fiscally responsible. And so, Civic Duty was born to bring people together through fashion that is fresh, innovative and with a conscience.

Weinreb’s inspiration for Civic Duty fashion launch came several years ago, while working with a brand that created a travel sneaker packaged in a Tyvek® bag. The material properties blew him away. After a year of development, the perfect formula for a sensational Tyvek® sneaker that is recyclable and stylish was born.

Civic Duty offers five timeless and classic shoe styles in fun and vibrant colors. In addition, each year an exclusive shoe is uniquely designed with 100% of the profits donated to a social cause benefiting those in the United States. Common Ground Relief is the focal organization for 2011. A volunteer run not for profit organization based in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. A diverse range of projects, from New Home Construction, to a Free Legal Clinic, to Wetlands Restoration, Community Gardening and the education of school children about Food Security and Environmental Science with our Garden of Eatin’ Program.

I LOVE LOVE fashion with a purpose!
