Baron Wells – A Gentlemen’s Introduction

In my travels, I have the amazing opportunity to meet some incredibly inspirational people. Claudia Byrdine is no exception. This extremely successful businesswoman, has a flair for the unconventional. In Byrdine’s words “… an eccentric woman with extraordinarily memorable, often misunderstood, but unmistakably distinctive style.” Every presentation or event we attended, the Gen Art Fresh Faces 2011 was no exception, she consistently drew attention with her “out on a limb” style and mysterious confidence. While many had not met her before, they where possessed to make their acquaintance.
Baron Wells – A Gentlemen’s Introduction by Claudia Byrdine
I was first introduced to the Baron Wells menswear line at the 2011 Gen Art Fresh Faces New York Fashion Week runway presentation. The show opened and ended with model, Eric Degenhardt; a blonde with strikingly blue eyes and an impressive manly brush of hair above his upper lip. His face is the essence of the line.

As he walked the runway above me, I could see up under his grand mustache; which must be somewhat akin to seeing up a ladies dress… a secret pleasure never talked about.
Owners Dominick Volini and Mads Madsen left careers in marketing and real estate to launch their menswear label in 2010. The line is a traditional classic with a twist. A turn of the century straightforward craftsmanship honors a brilliant attention to detail. From the rounded collars to the rolled up pant legs, they recall a simpler time. It is both quirky and intellectual. The line has both an outdoors woodsy feel paired with a feeling of library … the sent of pipe smoke and old books… a gentleman with perhaps a monocle and walking cane.

The classic pieces also happen to be eco-friendly – oxfords feature sustainable buttons made from potato starch and corn, cufflinks are crafted from recycled paper and almost everything is made locally.
This is clothing you could have for a lifetime. A line that could also worn by a woman as well. Since autumn is upon us, aside from the first three shots, the photographs are of the current 2011 Fall/Winter line.
