Denim Tips For Men
Matthew from the UK asked "I am not all that tall and feel as though I look a mess most of the time. Would there be any style idea's/tips you would have? like what fit jeans to wear/what shoes etc?"
Matthew, I am not all that tall either, or as tall as I wish. I think denim is a great place to start. The style and fit of our denim can make us look, tall, slender and put together, or comfortable, casual and sometime just a sloppy mess. It is a fine line.
I recommend for all body types to go with a straight leg or slim fit denim. For some of us who have skinny legs and don't want to appear we are balanced on tooth picks; a straight leg gives a tailored look, without giving away our calve deficiency. OR if you are one of us who athletic build, having muscular runners legs and want to show off your hard work a slim fit. The fit should just skim your leg and shape, not constrict your overall movement and comfort. The way of the loose or wide leg fit is BANISHED from my closet shelves (except for that one or two favorite pair that I want to feel casual and slouchy in LOL)
I especially lean toward s a dark wash. Check out selvage denim, it is clean, crisp and low maintenance. I feel like I can put these (cuffs optional) on with a stunning pair of shoes, a button-down or tee-shirt even and feel put together... confident.
I will just touch on shoes. With denim you can wear any color, depending on the moment and the season. I believe that it is all in ones attitude, how we carry ourselves. I slip on my Dolce & Gabbana, dress-tie, pointies, all the time with selvage denim, tee shirt and blazer. I feel like a rock-star, so will you.
